Nobody Walks in LA

In an effort to contain my (bad) habit of impulse shopping, I have decided to avoid the shops today, and instead, do some internet browsing. Maybe this way, I can narrow things down and buy only those things "I want." (well, at least, this is what I'm telling myself. I have a feeling I'll end up at the shops tomorrow, but at least of tried :)

Anyway, one purchase I have decided to make is these cute pair of F-Troupe elastic strappy sandals. I think I'll take the blue one, thank you! The striped sole is a nice touch. Perfect for warm Los Angeles weather! And possibly, great for my upcoming excursion to Coachella.

And I am seriously thinking about these as well. What to do? What to do? I love the v-shape that the straps make.

More shoes from F-Troupe...

The Greatest

April 2007 Issue of I-D Magazine. Great cover and an awesome photo of singer, Cat Power! We can actually see her face. Normally she hides behind her long, straight bangs (which I totally covet).

So Soft, So Delicate

Isn't this dress just so delicate and beautiful? The detail and the lace is what attracted me to this amazing piece by Prospect 44, a label created by LA-based designer, Marlene Salcido. She believes that people who wear her clothes are "fashion forward, willing to take fashion risks and not afraid to start a trend." Her designs are featured at some of my favorite local stores, Apartment 3 and Sirens and Sailors. Yay, indie designers!

Sealed with Cuteness

When I stopped by Paper Source the other day, I discovered these too-flippin-cute stamps. Even though each one had an unreasonable price tag of $5, I was very, very close to purchasing them; and as you can, I am still thinking about it. TOO. CUTE.

I Was a Lover

I recently discovered Aussie brand, Lover, and I became hooked almost instantly. Designer Susien Chong and creative director, Nic Briand, have created a line with intricate detail and loads of chic that completely gets me. The inspiration behind their label - a love of music, film and fashion.

Their Spring/Summer 06/07 Collection actually hit the runway almost a year ago during Australia's Fashion Week, but since our seasons are opposite theirs, we, Americans, receive a delay on these goods. The title of this collection, "Black Rose Army." Many of the designs featured in this collection have a high-waist and short hemlines.

In LA, Lover can be found at Satine, Ron Herman and American Rag, and online at
Le Train Bleu.

Pick and Choose

Libertine designs for the Target GO International Collection. The complete outfits don't appeal to me, but, as separate pieces, most of them can definitely work. My picks - the striped shirt dress in the first row and the white three-quarter sleeve blouse in the last row.

Studded

I have added Devotte sandals to my spring shopping list. I am determined to buy them. Last year, I was set on buying a pair, but sadly, they ran out out of my size by the time I came back to the store (dammit for being a size 6!). Well, hopefully this year it'll be "meant to be." It's either the pair above or this one.

Think I'm in Love

I had the lovely opportunity of attending the Crispin & Basilio fashion show yesterday. Donny Barrios showcased his utterly-amazing collection for Fall 2007. Here are some photos I captured of his designs.

It was hard to decide, but I'm going with this one as my favorite outfit from the entire collection - zig zag silk knit coat, wool jersey scarf dress in navy. Even if separated, the coat and dress are just perfect items for a good fall wardrobe.

More amazing dresses (they have pockets too!)

A great blouse and cropped-pant ensemble. I am loving the chain necklaces!

The first outfit is great for work! The entire look was put together really well. This last dress is probably my 2nd favorite. Very wearable and chic. The tailored brown jacket is a great complement to that dress.

Frost Yourself

I have been searching for a bling ring FOREVER! The Kenneth Jay Lane square-cut ring is now on my wanted list. Most of the ones I currently own are just not shnazzy enough, but the one below is a good size, and it can be worn both, elegantly and casually. And if I don't feel like spending too much, there are cheaper alternatives at Urban Outfitters.

Satin Chic

Pedro Garcia knows satin shoes! While most shoe designers are focusing on leather or patent, Pedro Garcia takes it to a different level. Satin is just something not many can pull off . The first and last are on my wanted list. Although, knowing me, if I bought a pair of satin shoes, I would find some way to stain them the instant I put them on.

Dark Lines

Imitation of Christ 2007 Fall Collection. Tara Subkoff's collection had a dark, gothic-feel that was inspired by a recent visit to Paris and the goth of the eighties. Models were draped in primarily black designs, wearing dark lipstick against pale skin. As a whole, the collection did not appeal to me, but there were a few designs that broke free of the darkness and actually demonstrated a subtle, feminine feel.

So Fresh and So Clean

Paul Smith's Spring Summer 2007 Collection for his Blue line is all about fresh femininitity. Some of the looks can be too preppy for me, but they definitely appear effortless and laid back without losing a great sense of style. I am in love with the white, button-downed shirt dress! Hands-in-the-pocket, black belt and fabulous shoes make this a great piece for a nice spring day.

Not Easy Being Green

Korea Vogue Cover for April 2007 with Jessica Stam. Not liking the outfit too much, and there's too much green on the cover for my taste. Jessica's face does look gorgeous though.

Warm and Sunny Days

Last night, I attended a fashion show hosted by BoxEight, which was one of many events to kick off Los Angeles Fashion Week. Designers featured at the show were: Kristen Coates, Kit Pistol, Eddie Debarr, Unhee, Clare la Faye, Adele Mildred, goddollars and Posso. Nothing blew me away, but I found the pieces below to be the best of the bunch.

A Perfect Combination

There have been internet rumblings that Zooey Deschanel is singing on one of Jason Schwartman's songs for his upcoming album. On Jason's myspace page, there is a song called "This Old Machine," which features a girl that people believe to be Zooey; and of course, the picture above is posted on his myspace so it just has to be her.

I cannot express how much I love these two people! They are freakin' adorable! Their collaboration is seriously a match made in indie heaven.
