Return to Home

During my shopping excursion today, I came across these cute flats by Sam Edelman. 70% of my shoe collection are flats, so I was really holding myself back from making this purchase. But really, what was I thinking? 1) These flats are super comfortable; 2) a girl can never have too many shoes; and 3) a girl can never have too many flats. So I guess I'll be making my way back to the store. But now, I can't decide which color. They are all so cute!

Back to Black

Today I stumbled upon the lovely designs of Laura Dawson. This Brooklyn-based, stylist-turned-designer is someone to watch out for. Vogue, WWD, and many indie fashion sites and mags are already showing her much praise. Here are items that have caught my eye:

The Sissu Dress: brass button details with a split back and a wide belt tie. Plus: It has a removable separate lining that can turn this 1 dress into 2. Love the back!

Una Coat: Love the form!

Helmet Bag: Awesome distressed leather bag. Perfect size for carrying my iBook!

The District Sleeps Alone Tonight

These high-waisted shorts by Lyell is something I must have! This brand is all about simplicity, femininity and timelessness. 3 things I love in a label!

I also found this outfit simply gorgeous! Love the details on the top!

New York has its very own Lyell store. (I am so jealous) But for those in Los Angeles, Lyell is stocked at Satine, Ron Herman and Fred Segal Santa Monica; so I think we're OK.

Purple Rain

On my wish list - COLORED DENIM! I am very much a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl, so colored denim is a great way of turning a casual, relaxed look into something a little less boring.

Rich & Skinny Sleek Blue Jean. The faded blue color is magic! Definitely not boring.

Ksubi Purple Skinny Zipper Jean. This brand knows skinny jeans. The fit is awesome and the little details are on point - especially that ankle zipper. I LOVE the ankle zipper; but being a short 5' girl is not easy when you are purchasing jeans like these. Solution - I guess I'm just going to have to find a good tailor.

April 77 Colordrive Grey Jean. I love the sleek look of these jeans. A great five-pocket jean with a little surprise in the tiny fifth pocket - an April 77 guitar pick. So random, so rock star, so cute.

Time to Head Towards the Beach

In the Image section of today's LA Times, I found a feature discussing how today's swimwear is focusing on the trends of the 1940s. Swimwear is leaving more to the imagination and adopting boy-cut briefs and full coverage tops.

Boy-cut briefs - count me in! I am all for this trend. It's glamorous and sexy. Take a look at the bathing suits above. I have my eye on the black-and-white Gottex one-piece. It's just lovely!

Looks Just Like the Sun

I am loving the new arrivals at Creatures of Comfort! These 2 items are on my Want list:

APC Ruffle Dress. I love this orange color! The ruffles around the square neck add a girlish touch. I can't exactly express why I love this label so much, but I know 2 things - adorable clothes and it fits me really well. I guess what more do you need to know.

Crispin & Basilio Apron Dress. Another label on my list of favorites! I love the tight fit around the waist. And the side pockets are a great plus.

Drew's Life as a Cover Girl

Drew Barrymore is the new face of Cover Girl. The brand just announced that Drew has signed a deal to do a print and commercial ad campaign that will begin in January. I personally don't use any Cover Girl products, but I'm totally happy for the girl.

Layers of Stuff

The perfect piece for springtime layering - a button-down or open-face sweater vest. They can add so much to an outfit without being too overbearing. I've been searching for one for the past month. So far, here is what I found:

Roberto Collina

Sweetface

I especially love the low-slung pockets on the last piece.

Lay Off the Tiara

I watched Saved! over the weekend and was reminded of how much I adore Mandy Moore. The girl is just flat-out hilarious and plays a good villain! Putting aside the fact that she was the singer of the horrible pop song 'Candy,' she is a good actress, has a clothing line of comfortable tees, and has a good sense of style.

Here is Mandy on the May 2007 issue of Elle. I love the dresses, the photography, and the hair! Oh, her hair - just the right amount of wavy and messy. I love!

I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane

Anna Corinna has done it again! I am in love with this bag! I am charmed by the cute belt straps surrounding the bag. The functionality is also great - option of a longer strap and big enough to fit everything I need for the day.

Heart of Glass

I saw this Bing Bang bracelet at Barney's yesterday, and I must have! My wrist is starting to feel really bare without something. Right now there is only one bracelet that I wear and it is no substitute for something like this.

I Bet You Look Good on the Dance Floor

Kate Moss' collection for TopShop. So far, so good. The dresses are what appeal to me, especially the first one. (Dammit Irina for being so cute!) I usually don't like the asymmetrical strap, but it works on this dress. It complements the bottom hem perfectly. Just lovely.

Manic Monday

Check out Quail, a label by Michelle Nguyen, another Los Angeles-based designer. She finds inspiration from "vintage charm and modern simplicity." For those on the West Coast, 3rd Street shop, Filly, in Los Angeles will be hosting an event featuring the Summer 2007 Collection on April 19th; and for those on the East, Lola Y Maria will host the event on April 5th. Cocktails, art and live music will all take part in this event - it's definitely worth checking out. Yay, shopping and drinks!

Here are some looks from the Spring Collection.

Cafe Au Lait

Found this cute apron on the Lotta Jansdotter site. This label always has cute stuff! If I had a cute apron like this, I might just cook more often :)
